AI is all the rage right now. It’s new for most people and it’s doing things that both amazes and doesn’t. It can be a little scary. You tell it to write a home page for your web site and before you can take your hand off the mouse the code is there followed by something like “If you want, I can make the buttons gold when hovered, and add links to an About and Contact page. Just say "Do it.”
The above is an example of something very useful in the world of Chat. Here’s something that’s not: “I think my boyfriend may be cheating on me. What are some of the signs I should look for?”
Or, “Do you like me AI? I think I will give you a name and we can become best friends.”
The last two examples are paths that can take a user down a deep rabbit hole. They are using Chat for highly personal things that we will say right now, are things one should figure out on their own.
AI - Chat - is great for technical things. Ask it for a recipe. Ask it if it’s going to rain today. Ask when was the final Beatles concert.
Please don’t paste a picture of yourself in chat and ask it if you are pretty, or for suggestions for what you can do to look prettier.
And while there are already a small number of people worldwide who have married their Chat, please don’t be one of those people. Humans weren’t meant to cohabitate with machines.
One of the keys to a healthy Chat experience is not to get too personal. Think of Chat as an expert on most things technical. It can help you write documents, create images, even help write songs and create movies. Giving Chat your sob stories about break-ups, physical appearances, deeply psychological and personal things is not a useful purpose for Chat. In fact, using Chat for these sorts of personal activities can lead to incorrect responses and worse.
You should still count on other people for personal advice and assistance. Chat is not an emotional expert. It’s a computer program that is lightning fast at calculations and most things technical. We advise using Chat as a technical tool, not a personal one. Some people will of course disagree, but we’re not about to ask Chat why.
